Today is the first day of the Fashion Challenge with the lovelies Megan of Megan Mae Daily and Keely of Casual Chic Keely. This is my third challenge I've partaken with these ladies and it is always fun. I'm excited for this one. Today is "Remix an Old Favorite".
Because I don't pick favorites with my clothes, I went with some of the elements that have hung around my closet forever. Case in point, my denim jacket. I love my Levi's jacket. I wear it a lot and while it might be a cop out (who doesn't own a beloved denim jacket?), I am also wearing my favorite silver pumps.
So, this outfit comes with a story. No, the top isn't really a favorite and neither are the capris. But, this is what I was wearing for Pat and I's first "date."
Patrick and I met about 14 years ago in high school. At the time, he was dating one of my best friends. So, I never hung out with him on a one on one level.
I lost touch with that friend (and subsequently him) not long after high school. Thanks to Facebook, Patrick found me in the spring of last year. He asked me to go grab a beer with him and catch up. This was about 10 years after I'd last seen or talked to him.
When he picked me up, I was wearing this outfit. It was nothing special. In fact, I had changed out of my work clothes not expecting anything more than a friendly dinner with an old friend. (And it was a good thing that I did change because I had to hoist myself into his lifted Jeep Wrangler to go to dinner.)
He got to my house to pick me up and I remember him saying "wow, you look great" and I was so shocked. I was in capris! But he just kept looking at me. We went out to a Mexican restaurant where I drowned a chimichanga in sour cream, grabbed a beer and a pool table at a nearby lounge and called it a night.
Over a year later and I am so glad that he found me on Facebook. I've never been happier, been treated better and laughed so hard as I have since. You never know what you're gonna get. Even in cargo pants.

Great choice for your "Old Favorites".. Any outfit that inspires that good of memories is something to cherish. Your story made me smile. And hey, who says you can't look slammin' in some cute capris.

I love when clothes come with memories. I have a tee that my dad wore in college that I know I'll have forever and very recently my boyfriend gave me the Buffalo Bills tee shirt that he's had since he was a little kid. Luckily he was a big kid and the shirt fits me like a dream I can't wait to wear it this fall when we go to Buffalo and make new memories.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your first date story and for owning a killer pair of silver pumps!
