Bring It 2013!

2012 was a very stressful, anxious and frustrating year for me in my personal life. A lot of family issues, even currently.  None of which I really put on here.  But that had a lot to do with it.

There was a lot of change at work.  We started the year with Daryl, Dawn and Peggy and we are ending the year with Daryl, Brandy and I.  Not to mention, the loss of Bob in March.

But that's not to say that all the stress and change was all bad.  This year I also got married!  And went on a honeymoon in Aruba.  Best.  Time.  Ever.

Of course, I don't have my husband right now.  He's still deployed.  And that has been a hard and stressful time.  But I anxiously await his return!

But I am in great anticipation for 2013.  I have a good streak with odd numbered years.  And, from a lot of standpoints, it can only go up from here.

Not to mention, with the coming of a new year means we are that much closer to spring and thus summer.  Which, after freezing my fingers to the bone in the ten minutes it took to take these photos, I am quite excited about.

I didn't do the whole yearly round up thing, but you can always find all my outfits at my Table of Outfits tab above.  Be safe ringing in the new year y'all!

A Great New Year's Quote

"I hope in this year to come, you make mistakes . . .

. . . Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing the world . . .

. . . You're doing things you've never done before and more importantly you're Doing Something . . .

. . . Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, . . .

. . . whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life . . .

. . . Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it . . .

. . . Make your mistakes, next year and forever."

Saturday Musings

I'm exhausted.  It's been a long, hard and trying Saturday.  So instead of listening to me rant on and on, here are some of my recent favorite quotes from my Pintrest Board:

No Offense

When I was younger, my sister made a comment about the way I eat.  "You chew weird."  She had said.  Since that day, I have never liked to eat around other people.  I do it, obviously, but I get really self conscious about it.

So a week or so ago, I got a gift.  I'm not going to say who it was, but let's just say we are pretty much acquaintances.

It was a pedicure.  And I thought it was really thoughtful and sweet.  But . . .

After thanking her, she went on to say "well, I've seen your toes."  I was . . . a little stunned.  I mean, I've always been a bit self conscious about my feet anyway.  I waited for a giggle or some sign she was joking.  I don't think she meant it in a rude or mean way, but it didn't seem like she was joking.  And, we're not friends so the joking around factor wasn't really there.

When I told Patrick about it he asked me why it was bothering me.  I didn't really know how to answer it honestly.  I mean, I know she didn't mean it in a mean way, but I couldn't help but feel a little buuuuuuuurned.

Isn't it weird how you can get compliments, and you don't discount them and most of the time you remember them, but when someone says something that could be deemed hurtful, you mildly obsess about it for over a week?  At any rate, I'm glad that open toe shoe season is quite far in the future.  Speaking of, yes I realize.  Dog hair all over the vest.  What are ya gonna do?

Thursday Mixer--Hot Pink Pants

For a relatively new purchase, the price per wear of these bright beauties is about $4.25.  So was it worth adding to my increasingly colorful bottoms section of the closet?  Fact: yes.

Strangely, I noticed that in every one of these outfits with these jeans, I'm wearing the same earrings.  Cuh-razy.

I am having a brain freeze for words.  Literally.  These were taken on a jot from the office to the gas station for a much needed Dr. Pepper break.  On foot.  In the 20-ish degrees cold air.  And I've been frozen ever since.
