If for one day there was no internet? Not like the power went out for a while or you didn't pay the bill. What if one day the internet just shut off for one day for everyone everywhere. Wouldn't that be weird?
I was thinking abut this the other day because my kids, though they are limited, love technology. They've obviously had access to the internet their whole lives. At the risk of sounding really old, I can't believe these kids have it so easy these days.
Think for a second about how many times a day you rely on the internet. We use MapQuest to find out where we're going. We use email, Facebook and IM to keep in contact with family and friends. How many times do you use the internet to check your bank account or check the stock in a long lusted after skirt or get a coupon.
And let's not even talk about Google. You can find anything out with Google. Gotta stain you don't know how to get out? Google. Need a recipe? Google. Need to find out the name of that song you've had stuck in your head for three days but you can't remember the artist or title? Google.
We had phone books delivered to the office the other day and I thought--why? Who uses those anymore? But it wasn't long ago that we used those for addresses, phone numbers and maps.
What would we do without the internet for one day? How would we get the news? It's just a crazy thought I had. We use the internet for information and entertainment. And we use both in the same form of necessity.
Speaking of, Patrick started a new series on Netflix this weekend, Justified. I'm not as into it as he is, but it's alright.
Thanks to the internet, we can sit here and watch every episode currently available for the remainder of the weekend.
