Goodwill Clothing Swap and Fashion Show

As I mentioned, I had the pleasure of attending the Good Exchange Fashion Show and Clothing Swap in Denver last week (on my birthday!).  It is put on by Goodwill and this year was a special treat because it was co-hosted by none other than Tim Gunn and Mondo Guerra!

I got to "meet" them backstage before the event.  I mentioned this in a previous post, but I was so impressed with how humble they both were.  I actually got to meet Mondo last year too.  They are both very down to earth and really seem to serve as a great team.

Denver's Channel 7  weather person Lisa Hidalgo helped to host the event as well for the second year in a row.  She wore a dress by Mondo and some killer heels!

The first half of the show was a contest between several  fashion school students.  Their mission was to create looks using fashions and/or resources from Goodwill in 70% of their looks.  They were divided into teams and each team was given a city for the inspiration of their looks.

Mondo was one of a team of four judges for the contest.

This look from Tokyo was deemed the first place winner and rightfully so.  She nailed the  Harajuku vibe of Tokyo perfectly with her fun prints and textures.  I loved that the skirt had emoticons on them.

After that, another designer that worked with Mondo helped a few of our Colorado local celebrities create looks from pieces that can be found at Deja Blue, an upscale Goodwill boutique.

This is our Ms. Teen Colorado modeling a really cute fall look with camel shorts, cognac boots and a fur vest.

Producer Sean Swallows from Alice 105.9.  I listen to this morning show almost every morning.

This woman also works at Channel 7 and I believe she hosted with Ms. Hidalgo last year.

This woman is the owner of the salon that did the hair and makeup for the event.  I loved her hair!

Favorite, favorite, favorite!  A sequin jumpsuit.

This was my second time attending the event and it has since remained my favorite to attend during the year.  Not only does it help support Goodwill, which you ALL know I'm a fan of, but it really is a testament to Colorado, pre-loved clothing, creativity and, as Tim would say, making it work!  And, you get to attend a clothing swap in the end and come home with new clothes.  Win win!
