I feel like kind of a poser in this shirt. But legit at the same time because I did get it in New York City.
I may or may not in raced off of the plane from Denver into the JFK Airport on a mission to find an I <3 NY shirt.
Lucky for me, they are in high supply. I snagged this baby up asap, forgot about it on honeymoon and remembered it in a moment of "all my clothes have sand and ocean water in them".
I kind of forgot I was wearing it until Patrick and I were on the elevator with a gentleman who turned to us and asked "So what part New York y'all from?"
I was confused for a minute, then looked down at my shirt and it connected. "Um, the airport," I reply sheepishly. Wa waaaaaaa.
At any rate, this got me thinking a bit and my argument here is . . . do people who are from New York actually wear I <3 New York shirts?
What would they think of my imposter-like sporting of this shirt? Would they even care?
At any rate, minus the heels this is what I wore for a casual Saturday. And by that I mean that each of the boys had a football game and the remainder of the day was spent on a much needed deep cleaning of the house and the kids' rooms.
When we got back from the honeymoon, our house was completely destroyed. I tried to tell my mom that she and my brother would need reinforcements, but she declined.
She had these grandiose Nana-plans to make the kids pancakes every morning, take the Halloween shopping and keep up with all homework and tutoring work plus get them to and from football activities.
She meant well and she tried. She really did, but . . . it's harder than it looks raising these kids! She did leave a note. It was something to the effect of "I, Nana, did not get the laundry done. Or Kumon. Sorry about the mess. I respect you more than ever now! Love more!" Oh mom. We love you.

Dude, I would NEVER assume that somebody wearing an I Heart New York shirt was from New York. I would assume they bought it while visiting or got it as a gift! Weird... Anyway, I love that denim vest!
ReplyDeleteRight??? Thanks so much!
DeleteGood question. while I'd automatically assume anyone wearing it was a tourist, I bet there are some rogue new yorkers who rock one from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI love how your peep toes completely elevate your casual look.
Chic on the Cheap
That's what I thought! Thank you Lydia!
DeleteAwesome outfit! I love the vest!

Thank you Ira!
DeleteWe're going to visit The Costume Technician in NYC in a couple of weeks - so excited. They get to go the galas, and she saw Sarah Jessica Parker on the red carpet at the ballet last week :o
ReplyDeleteI feel your mess...lol. Two teen girls and one husband that cooks but doesn't clean can decimate our small home in about...three hours :P
Aaaaaa!!! I am so excited for you and I can't wait to see all the pics! A messy house is such a bummer!
DeleteI think the I <3 NY shirt is a classic. I remember wanting one so BAD when I was a Strokes fangirl. I think you should rock that shirt! Because hey you were in New York. Plus it's a great reminder of your fabulous honeymoon.
ReplyDeleteThat note cracks me up. It's good to know your hard work is recognized fully by someone, hehe. Also, after reading your last post, I'm happy to hear that you recharged and feel completely yourself. That's a wonderful feeling.
ReplyDeleteAs for the shirt... would people from NY wear that? I didn't think so but what do I know?
Probably the most fashionable way I've ever seen one of these shirts!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if New Yorkers would wear that shirt, but I recently bought a t-shirt with the Space Needle on it, so I think that's in the same vein. And everytime I fly to Alaska, the people from Alaska are often wearing t-shirts and sweatshirts that say Alaska, but that's a whole different fashion ballpark than NYC!
ReplyDeleteI love that classic shirt - my boyfriend just got one, lol! ;-)
