In Harmony with EBEW

I am so psyched for this EBEW challenge!  I almost missed it while I was out of the loop.  Thank Gawd for Liz mentioning it the other day or I would have totally missed out.

And that would have been traumatic because this month's theme is pattern mixing!  I've always been into fashion in some way or another and I have never much cared for what other people thought of what I wore.  However, I find that with the pattern mixing phenom especially, those not really into fashion just don't really get it.

To some people, pattern mixing looks like someone got dressed in the dark.  But to the trained eye, pattern mixing can be a great element in your wardrobe.

There are some guidelines with pattern mixing.  You are supposed to pick patterns with a common color.  You are supposed to make sure things still look legit together.

I may not have passed here.  I have blue nautical stripes, a sheer polka dot midi and leopard print heels.  But, ask me if I care?  The answer, friends, is no.  I liked the outfit.  Any naysayers can report to my high school self when I was pairing camouflage tights with Charlie Brown shirts.  Yep Matty, that's for you.  ;-)  Love ya!

Everybody, Everywear | Pattern Mixing

Day Three

To Do:  1) Go to One Hundred Gold Mine Tour
(near Silverton, Colorado)

What I Wore:

(totally kidding, but for your FYI, if you are going on a gold mine tour, do not wear your fave new platform sandals.  Contrary to what you might think, you will actually be trudging through a mine, not just riding in that trolly thing)

  2. I think it's a fabulous combo. The polka dots are tiny, the stripes large and the leopard medium. Pattern mixing works best with variety. Your picture in the yellow jacket cracked me up! I never wear anything but my flattest shoes on vacations because I'm always afraid I'll end up somewhere I need comfortable (walkable!) shoes.

  5. I love that you did three prints! And you are right - as a blogger I am just so used to it that I don't even think twice when I see it. However 'normal' people still give the double take.
My sister called me a crazy pattern mixing fajita. (not sure what the reference to Mexican food means.)

Leopard and stripes is definitely a fave of mine!

  6. I love your pattern mixing!! I think the leopard print shoes might be my favorite part. I feel like a lot of people would have gone with a neutral shoe, which would still make a nice outfit, but I like that you push it a little further than many would, it keeps things much more interesting!

  8. Thank you so much Megan! Yeah, next time I'll know better. Honestly, I don't own any tennis shoes without a heel and very few flats. Guess I have to go shopping ;-)

  11. Hee ! I'm not a big tennis shoe person either. Look into a pair of flat ankle boots. They're not always the most leg-flattering but they're cuter than "trainers" and great for walking.

  15. Is it a crime that I'm fixated on your shoes? But the stripes of your shirt are also calling me... it is so hard to be torn like this! I love the way you mixed up your patterns. (:
