Dear Frannie Friday--Patricia's Big Closet Show

Today I am over at the Denver Style Magazine blog talking about my experience at the Patricia's Big Closet Makeover Magic Show.  This was my second time going and it is such a treat.  More on the show in my post below, but for now, a little about my outfit.

First of all, I have always been a fan of the look of these bodysuits.  I love the subtle femininity of the way they contour your body.  But I have always shied away from them because of my lack of curviness in my chest.  I have always been a member of the IBTC.   And because of that, I have stood by while styles that I absolutely adored like low backs and halter tops went by because I need a bra to give my body curves up top (not necessary in the back . . .).  And this has always made me incredibly self-conscious and even made me feel like less of a woman.  But I'm in my mid-thirties now.  And recently I have lost many friends my age to various health reasons.  And I am learning to embrace my body because I am healthy.  And so this bodysuit was really out of my comfort zone, but I am in love with it.

I added the hat for a bit of color, the lace up flats to play off of the bodysuit and the elephant belt for a fun little detail.  They played really well together and although it was a bit casual for a fashion show, it was comfy and felt like just the right amount of sexiness.

 So about the show . . . I went with three of my girlfriends.  Ashley on the far left, has been a dear friend and personal inspiration for over 10 years.  She is a fellow lawyer and I was elated that she was able to attend.  Allison, beside Ashley, has also been a dear friend for over 10 years and she took these blog photos for me!  Patricia B. herself of Patricia's Big Closet is next to Allison.  On my right is Halleh, my boss and one of the kindest people I have ever known.

Patricia's Big Closet is run out of Patricia B.'s house up in the gorgeous hills of Boulder.  I am so bummed that I did not get a shot of her view, but I can tell you that the last time I went to a show, we were eating lunch on the deck and a deer came just walking by us.  And speaking of lunch, each show starts with a decadent array of fruits, cheeses, sweets and sandwiches. 

The show is so much fun!  Patricia puts looks together from her collection--so summery!  And her models are actual clients of hers!  Everything is from Patricia's Big Closet--from the bags to the shoes, the clothes and even the jewelry.  Patricia's Big Closet is a styling company.  But Patricia does not charge for her time.  She will only charge for the clothes that you buy.  And the clothes, mind you, are high end, even designer labels, from 22 of the wealthiest women in Colorado with whom Patricia has exclusive contracts with.

After the show, Patricia B. opens up her inventory for shopping.  And she literally has rooms and rooms of everything you can think of--bags, walls of shoes, dresses, jackets, jewelry, evening gowns--you name it, she's got it.  And they are very affordable--all jackets $40, all shoes are $25 (with some exceptions).  Liz Claiborne, Dior, Armani--the gang's all here.  Although, Patricia will save her more coveted items exclusively for her clients.

In addition to the clothes and the fashion show, Patricia B. runs her own skin care line.  Patricia B. is from Canada, where skin care products are much closer regulated than the United States.  In fact, did you know that there are NO regulations currently for skin care products in the U.S.?  None.  To further complicate matters, Colorado is very dry and the products on the shelves are usually created and manufactured in places like New York where there is a lot more moisture in the air.  So they can further dry out your skin in Colorado.  Patricia B. uses all natural products that are made exclusively for use in our desert climate.

Patricia B. has hosted over 45 fashion shows and the next one is coming up in August, I believe.  If you are looking for a fun afternoon full of food and fashion in a quaint get away, be sure to contact Patricia B. for tickets--$20!  Worth it!
