Mission #18--Crop Top Tip 4--Layers, Layers, Layers

Yeah, yeah.  I'm wearing a crop top over a maxi dress again for Mission Week.  But this time it is to show you that the more layers you use when crop topping, the less scandalous you be.  I've also layered this particular top over an oversized oxford shirt, just to give you an idea.

You know what's cracked me up lately?  My oldest niece Anya.  She is just a doll and hilarious in general, but I've been thinking about her a lot.

I've mentioned on here before, but she was born with spina bifida.  Basically what this means is that she needs a wheelchair or braces to help her to walk.  But she is amazing and smart and the sweetest girl in the world.

Well not long ago, she and her sister stayed over at my house.  For a sleepover movie, they chose to watch Hercules.  And Anya has been obsessed ever since.

She really wants to be a "true hero."  She tries to pick up furniture, she tries to be brave and every time I see her, she shows me how much bigger her muscles are than last time I saw her.  This works to her parent's advantage, too.  "True heroes pick up their rooms" or "true heroes eat all of their dinner."

I always tell her that she is already a true hero to me.  Usually she just corrects me that she is not.  But the last time she said "Yeah, Auntie to you I am.  But I still need the horse."

Mission #18--Crop Top Tip 3--Under Overalls

So far for Mission Week, we've shown how to wear a crop top over, on its own and now we can show how to wear a crop top under.  In other words, one of the easiest ways to get the belly baring top in rotation.  True, this top isn't a crop top but a bandeau.  Nonetheless, the same holds true.

I actually was wearing this outfit and took these photos during the flood.  This was, of course, before I knew the severity of the flood.  Literally not an hour after these photos were taken, this area was completely flooded over.  This is what happens when you don't have cable TV and don't keep up on the news.

Tonight we hit a major milestone in our house.  I cooked my first homecooked meal for dinner tonight.  Between the kitchen being packed and then not being able to unpack it with the quickness, we've been doing the pizza/fast food thing.  And it has been wearing on us greatly.  We aren't used to it.  Gross.

Not only did I get dinner cooked (with the help of my favorite co-cook Brielle, in full apron, of course), but we got the dining room table cleared off and sat down and had a proper meal.

Dinner time is a very special time for our family.  We almost always eat a homecooked meal--hardly ever do we do fast food.  We always eat at the table together.  We always use that time to talk together, shut off the electronics and just focus on being family.

I can definitely take some pride in that.  Now if I could only get my closet done with the same conviction . . .

Mission #18--Crop Top Tip 2--With a High Waisted Skirt

Best way, in my opinion, to don the crop top, is via the high waisted bottoms--be it a skirt, pants or shorts.  And I am showing you my favorite look for this Mission Week, though it is incredibly old.  Like summer sandal wearing old.

The great thing about crop tops with high waisted bottoms is that it doesn't accentuate your belly per se, but your torso.  And that feels just a trite safer, for some reason.

Can I tell you something?  I've been trying to limit my caffeine intake the past few weeks.  In fact, I don't think I've really had any!  So during this whole move extravaganza, I decided to treat Patrick and I to some Starbucks.

I've never had a Pumpkin Spice Latte.  Never.  This day, I decided to try one out.  It was delicious, though I still don't really get all the hype.  Nonetheless, I only got a Tall.  And holy moly.

I'm not sure if those have extra caffeine in them or if I had just been deprived for a while, but I was high in the sky after I drank that thing.  Like all I kept doing was singing this in my head over and over again.
