Mission #2, Day 2

It's Day 2 of this week's Mission of Blazers.  Another great way to wear a blazer is over a dress.  It adds layers, warmth and dimension.   

I actually was trying for a look I saw on The Clothes Horse several weeks ago, but mine didn't really turn out like hers did.  I am starting to doubt this orange dress.  Maybe it needs shorter, I don't know.  Something about it just doesn't sit right.

Plus I didn't notice until I saw these photos that I had been sporting a run in one of my favorite tights all day.  *wipes away tear*

Nonetheless, I am still a fan of the color scheme--vibrant orange, punchy gold and dark brown and black.  As excited as I am for spring (and believe me I am!), I'm definitely going to find it hard to let go of dark autumnal hues.

Tomorrow we are expecting snow after being spoiled with weather in the 40's and 50's.  I am not looking forward to it.  And even though February is nearly over, March is our snowiest month in Colorado.  Are we done yet?

Mission #2, Day 1

It's time for our second edition of Mission Week and this week we are celebrating blazers.  I could not be more thankful for a blazer than for today.

Were any of the rest of you poor saps have to work today like I did?  I hate working on days when everything else is closed.  It just feels wrong doesn't it?

Leaving my house at the break of dawn to head in to work while Patrick and the kids slept was just so "ugh".  So I did what any sane person would do--wore the equivalent to pajamas to work.

Plaid trousers and a t-shirt can relay the "I didn't get dressed this morning" message real fast.  But if you add some pretty sparkly heels and a structured blazer, you're in business!

It also helped that the banks, post office and Courts were closed today.  And we weren't expecting any clients in today.  So it was pretty easy to get away with it.

Isn't it crazy how a look can completely transform with the right accessories?  This look went from rolling out of bed to rocker business chic in a quick hurry.

Full House

 

On any given weekend you can find at least half a dozen kids at our house.  Usually it's only Kaden here, which means a minimum of six tween boys at the house.  This weekend Conner and Brielle were here too.  And they each had someone stay the night on Friday. 

It's noise and mess and chaos and loud and sticky and constant snacking.  We end up having homemade waffles for lunch around one.  We hung out.  We played tag and wrestling.  We grilled Patrick and I's infamous blue cheese burgers for dinner.

But it's great.  It's comforting.  It's even relaxing in a way.  I am a firm believer that the more children you have around, the easier it is to watch them.  And it's important for them.

And when we weren't doing that, my sister and I went down to Denver to visit my brother.  There's something to be said when you can hang out with someone literally your whole lives and never getting sick of them.  There's a bond with siblings that is so strong and comforting.

And my mom met us there to.  I was so truly blessed to have such wonderful children, a husband I adore and great family to surround myself with.  I love every minute of it.
