For some reason, I seem to be in a neutral kind of mood this week.  Maybe it's because I wore a lot of bright colors the last couple of weeks fairly consistently.  I don't know.  But it just feels right.

This crocheted tunic was my absolute favorite thrift find from this past weekend.  I can't wait to pair it with some dark wash wide leg jeans in the fall.  And a scarf.  Sigh.  I am feeling conflicted with my love for summer and my anxiousness for fall.

Another favorite score of mine from this past weekend is this elephant cuff.  Isn't it great?  I paired it with my elephant ring.  Too bad I couldn't pull off my elephant belt, but then again, that might've been overkill.

Elephants are my favorite animal.  My grandmother started collecting them for me since I was a baby.  She picked elephants because they are good luck.  I love how massive, majestic and yet gentle they are.  Such a beautiful creature.  I am honored to continue my elephant collections today.

I let my daughter pick out my shoes and necklace today.  She loves to dress me.  And, as you can see, even at only four, she does an impeccable job.   I've been dying to wear these ever since I got them and have not found just the right outfit yet.  So, this is their debut.  I love the pretty floral silk detailing on the front.  And the bow is a nice touch as well.

As I was taking my pictures in this park, I got the usual nerve wracking "need help with your pictures?".  Why is it always a man asking this?  It concerns me on several levels.  One--do you even know how to work a camera?  I don't want no one effing up my stuff.  Two--do you really just want to take pictures or are you thinking that if I let you take my pictures you will open a window of opportunity for me to bond with you on some weird and awkward level?  Three--do you have any intentions of running off with my camera?  Four--it's awkward enough for me to take my own pictures with my tripod and self timer without having to "pose" and smile for a complete stranger.  Thanks, but no thanks.

Call me a cynic, but I would never in a million years let some random man take my pictures.  No way.  I don't know you, so therefore, I don't trust you.  Maybe they are just a nice person wanting to help out.  But there is a chance they are some freak.  I don't gamble with that schnit.  You can bet on that.

Frannie Pantz Fancy Pants

MusicPlaylist

Ok, so they're not pants.  But I felt so fancy in this dress.  I bought it shopping with Cristi on Sunday.  Half off.  Half off!!!!

Because the dress was a little on the fancy, flirty side, I paired it with my rough 'n tough leather jacket for a nice balance.  No one ever believes I bought this jacket at Wal-Mart.  I think it was something ridiculous like $15.

I think my nude, strappy wedge sandals were a nice touch.  I would just like to take a moment to reiterate how much I love these things and how comfy they are!

Tell me if this is weird to you.  I'm just gonna run this by you.  So, I've been renting various places since I was 19. That's a decade for those who are counting.  But I have never had this experience with a landlord.

So every year when I sign my lease, my landlord has to come over and do an inspection.  Like a thorough, white glove, carpet cleaning inspection like the kind they give when you move out of a place.  But we're not moving out.  We're signing a lease.  Is this weird to anyone else?

So, needless to say, Pat and I spent our weekend cleaning our fannies off.  I mean, like steam cleaning the carpets and cleaning baseboards and stuff.  It's actually kind of nice this time of year because we get a lot of little stuff done to the house that we don't normally set aside time for.

For example, I gave away four boxes of old toys and clothes that my kids no longer play with or fit in.  Those of you with kids understand.  My kids have birthdays and Christmas wherein they get mountains, mountains of toys and stuff.  They get pumped about them, but they get so excited, some of them never even get played with.  There's just too much!  So, we donate a lot around here.

At some point, I'm gonna have to go through my clothes.  My problem is that I am a clothes hoarder.  I have a problem.  I own so many clothes that there are things in my closet I've worn once.  Once.  And not that I don't like it, it's just that there's so much else to wear.

Recently, a reader inquired why I always have my sunglasses on in my pictures.  It's because I have really sensitive eyes.  If I am outside, the shades are on.  It does not matter if it is sunny, snowy, rainy or dusk.  She asked for a picture of me without sunglasses.  So, here you go!

I am so stoked for a three day weekend already.  Is it really only Tuesday?  Uuuuuuuuuugh.  Check please!

I Like GIrls that Wear Abercrombie and Fitch

MusicPlaylist

Not bad for a Monday, folks.  Not bad at all.  Mercury is no longer in retrograde (praise God) and things are right with the world. I am still, yes still, on Cloud 9 from Thursday last week.  Seriously, I love Peggy.  I know she reads this too, so Peggy, I love you.

You know who else I love?  Cristi.  This girl and I go way back.  Like awkward middle school, thinking we were cool smashing up Smarties, dreaming about boys we'd never end up with, listening to "I Like It I Love It" on repeat way back.  Well, we're the kind of friends who live within five minutes of each other now, see each other once every few years and pick up just where we left off.  It's amazing.

We went thrifting on Sunday and it was so much fun.  I don't get much "girl time", so I totally dug it.  Even though we struck out on finding open thrift stores in our town, we did get some Rockin Robin's time in, which is always good.  I also got this cute little skirt at a different thrift store.  I fell in love with it immediately.  Upon putting it on this morning, I realized it was Abercrombie & Fitch.  Instantly, the above song was stuck in my head all day.  Damn you LFO!

You know who else I love?  My mom.  She is the most amazing woman of all time.  I mention this because she scouted out this spot for me to take my OOTD pics and I finally got an opportunity to give 'er a whirl this afternoon after work.  Isn't she great?  Again, though, I was unable to stop in and say hi to her at work (this is a dog park right next to her work).  This makes this the third time I have done that to her.  Sorry mom!  I know, I'm grounded.  *hangs head in shame*

These cute little platform loafers are a pair I had yet to take for a spin from the shoe haul my mom scored for me a few weeks ago.  You guys, I still have not worn all the shoes.  Seriously.  I won't need new shoes for months.  Well, I won't need any new shoes . . . but if I happen upon a pair I can't resist . . . well than that's just fate.  And who am I to stand in the way of fate?

I also love Patrick.  For many reasons.  I seriously oft find myself boggled at what I ever did to deserve a man so understanding, compassionate, sweet, thoughtful, caring, supportive, responsible, respectful and handy.  Also, he lets me wear his watches whenever I want.  Now that's a good man.

Are You Ready for Some FOOTBALL?!?!?!

MusicPlaylist
Music Playlist at MixPod.com

Today was my son's first football game.  It was truly the first football game I've ever watched.  I didn't understand a thing about what was going on, but I'm trying to learn.  Mostly I was watching to make sure my son didn't get hurt.  And btw is it necessary to YELL so much in football?  Jeez!

It was so freaking hot today that I felt like my back was sweating off of my body.  Sad story, I ripped a whole in my only white tee while trying to get it not to stick to my back.  Nasty and sad at the same time.

I am continually amazed at the little trinkets and treasures I keep finding in the jewelry box my mom gave me from my Grandma.  She gave me another one on Thursday.  More stuff to play with YAY!!!!!!  This is actually one bracelet.  Was my Grandma stylish or what???

So after (and I mean directly after) I had my football lesson (Kaden was fine btw), I headed over to drop Kaden off at his tutoring end of the summer party.  That is where I wondered over to this great little park next to where he was at the party.

Plus side to the 1264 degree weather?  Getting some last minute color on my stems.  Btw every time I hear of legs referred to as "stems" I think of Cher on Clueless.  Btw, I think I have used the "btw" about 156156 times in this post.

Weirdest park statue I've ever seen?  This creepy little giraffe in women's clothing sitting on the bench.  I couldn't tell if she was whispering sweet nothings in my ear, giving me a kiss or about to eat my flesh off.  You decide.

Satisfaction

You might remember from the last time I wore this dress that it was stolen from gifted to me by my sister.  I am not a thief, but seriously I wear this dress A LOT.  And every time I do, I get compliments on it.  So, it's justified.  Don't worry.  My sister fully supports it transporting to my closet.  Kind of.

I love the tulle petticoat underneath.  I love the shape.  I love the bright yellow flowers.  And I love how I found a beach near my work to take my pictures at.  A beach.  In Boulder, Colorado.  Crazy, huh?  It's a dive shop actually.  But their front "yard" is full of sand and even has a volleyball net.  Side note-I learned today that Colorado is #1 for scuba divers in the country.  Nutso, no?

Well because this little not so buried treasure is off a busy street in Boulder, I took to the comfort of my ole I-Pod to keep me distracted.  It works like a charm.

I still have not worn all the shoes from my infamous shoe haul.  These were some of my favorites.  I had never worn them until today, though.  I can't believe they're made by Carlos Santana!  They are so rockin!  But, they did rock the h-e-doublehockeysticks right out my toesies.  Yikes!  Also, they did not like being in the sand.  Not one bit.

I've had a great end to my week, but I am ready for a weekend.  Even though, it is a typical "mom" weekend.  Football games, tutoring parties, cleaning and catching up on things.  BUT I am planning a phenom shopping trip with an old friend.  Cristi, this will be epic.  EPIC.  That is all.
